It's a young horned owl. He/she was in a tree at work this afternoon. I heard a strange hoot as I was walking down the corridor between buildings after lunch and it was just sitting there, eyeing a rabbit nearby. I grabbed the trusty Olympus digital. Shooting into the sun, I was about 10 feet away and shot auto. No time to think, just aim and shoot.I had to do a little midrange tone control after the fact and goose up the contrast a wee bit, but I am mighty happy with the result.

Whattahoot!
I always have my camera at my side. However,I didn't yesterday when a donkey was wondering along the gravel I travel to work. He wouldn't move when I tried to "help" him...

I love this picture! Isn't it fun when the "no time to think" pictures turn out so well? I wonder if the owl was as surprised to see you - too bad it didn't have it's own camera tucked under its wing!

So did you find out how many licks it takes to get to the center?
