Great captures, Leo - the bright sparkly sparks against the nighttime sky are truly awesome =)
In our little town in the frozen north, every January there is a Christmas tree burn. The Fire Department gathers all the Christmas trees and lights a huge bonfire. The town gives away free hot dogs and hot chocolate, a farmer gives free wagon rides with his big team of horses, and to finish the evening off, they hire a crew from the city to set off fireworks. I was impressed this year with how fantastic the fireworks were...
The first year we lived here, it was -40 F on the evening of the big event...we went anyway, and so did everybody else! I guess when winter is so long and dark and cold, any excuse to light things on fire can't be passed up.
